Per the AFSCME Council 93 Constitution, an election for Table Officers and Executive Board was conducted during the 26th Biennial Convention held in Danvers, MA November 10-12, 2023.

A recent Treasury Department report titled, “Labor Unions and the Middle Class,” was the subject of a conversation at the Economic Policy Institute (EPI) that highlighted the role of unions in making the economy stronger.

Exactly one year to the day after they requested voluntary recognition of their union, the workers at the Vermont Historical Society ratified their first union contract on October 31st. The Vermont Historical Society joins Burlington, Essex, Kellog Hibbard, Middlebury, Rutland, and Springfield as the number of libraries in Vermont represented by Council 93 continues to grow.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, the Biden administration halted all federal student loan repayments. After the national COVID-19 emergency ended in March 2023, Congress passed a law preventing further extensions. As a result, payments resumed in October.

For people whose student loan repayments have started up again, there’s good news.
