Workplace COVID-19 Infection Control and Prevention: What You Need to Know

From health care to corrections to public works and education, workers across the Florida need as many tools as possible to prevent and respond to a COVID-19 exposure in the workplace. AFSCME has put together a FREE online workshop that will define key steps in worker protection and infection control.

Ms. Carter recently joined the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees (AFSCME) as a Health and Safety Advocate in January 2022.  Prior to joining AFSCME, Ms. Carter was a Safety Data Manager for the Maryland Aviation Administration where she conducted safety trainings on heat stress, workplace violence, incident investigations, hazard identification and airport ramp/terminal/airside safety.  She also participated in developing and implementing the Safety Management System for the BWI and Martin State Airports for key performance indicators and incidents.  Ms. Carter was a Safety and Risk Manager for Giant Food where she led incident investigations, chaired several monthly safety meetings, conducted safety trainings on incident investigations, fall protection, workplace violence, PPE, hazard identification, active shooter, hazard communication, anhydrous ammonia and powered industrial trucks.  Ms. Carter also conducted audits and inspections for the Giant warehouses and stores.  Ms. Carter was a Health and Safety Instructor for Cintas where she conducted safety trainings on fire protection, fall protection, powered industrial trucks, heat stress, PPE, CPR/AED/First Aid, Hazwoper and certified employees in OSHA 10 and 30 Hour General Industry.  

Ms. Carter is an authorized OSHA General Industry Instructor.  She is also certified in OSHA 10-Hour Construction, certified with the American Red Cross as a CPR/AED/First Aid Instructor and Certified Food Safety Manager.  Ms. Carter is a United States Air Force Gulf War Veteran, Office of Special Investigations.  She also earned a Bachelor of Arts in Communication from the University of Maryland.
