Executive Board Member

Sylvia was born in Galveston and moved to Austin in 1977 to begin her career as a legal secretary/legal assistant in the private sector.  She earned her Legal Assistant Certificate from the University of Texas Legal Assistant Program.  In the 1990s she began her career as a state employee with the Office of the Attorney General, later working for the General Land Office, and the Texas State Lottery as a legal and executive assistant. 

In 2013 she retired and returned to Galveston.  She enjoys playing mahjong, being involved in local politics, networking with friends, and living on the island.  We welcome her to the Board and look forward to her contributions and work on behalf of all AFSCME members.
