Here is where NYC tenants now stand. On August 12 and 13, 2020, the Chief Administrative Judge of NYC Courts issued AO/160A/2020 and an explanatory August 12 Memorandum which provides: Eviction cases filed on or after March 17, 2020 continue to be suspended; Eviction cases filed before March 17 may proceed; [However,] Residential eviction cases filed before March 17 must be presented to a judge before any action is taken and no residential evictions can take place before October 1st. Sept. 11 Remembrance On the 19th anniversary of the 9/11 attacks, we remember and honor the sacrifice of four DC 37 members who died on that terrible day: Rev. Mychal F. Judge, FDNY Chaplain, Local 299; Carlos Lillo, Paramedic, Local 2057; OTB Betting Clerk Chet Louie of Local 2021 and Lt. Ricardo Quinn, Paramedic of Local 3621. We must never forget our union sisters and brothers, who as first responders and essential workers died from working in the toxic ruins of the World Trade Center in the aftermath. Many continue to suffer, but we continue to fight hard on their behalf to ensure they receive proper health care and support. Their courage and commitment to public service remains an inspiration as we continue to battle the COVID-19 pandemic. — Sep 11
