Delegation approves changes to Constitution & By-laws
Delegates got down to business this afternoon to discuss proposed changes to the OCSEA Constitution and By-laws. Amendments 1, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10 and 11 all were passed by the delegation on the floor.
This included an amendment (#1) to temporarily revise and/or adopt provisions of the OCSEA State Constitution, By-Laws and/or Subordinate Body Constitution in the event of an unforeseen emergency circumstance, such as a global pandemic. Notifications of voting and quorum are outlined in the amendment. Additionally, Amendment 11 incorporates electronic voting for subordinate body elections.
Additionally, an important amendment was passed for protecting our mission as a labor union. Changes to Article 13 of the State Constitution now considers associating, coordinating and/or working with any anti-union group, like the Freedom Foundation for example, a detriment to the welfare of the union or its membership AND makes it a chargeable offense in the eyes of the union.
