Improve your Zoom Experience

There's typically a learning curve when doing an in-person event all virtually. We will run into issues from time-to-time but there are some things we can all do to improve the virtual experience. Get some tips on making the best out of this first-ever virtual OCSEA Convention.
- Make sure your internet can keep up! It's recommended that participants check their internet speed and device ahead of time.
- It's also encouraged that participants access the events of convention through a secure home internet/WIFI connection. Shared internet and hot spots can often be unreliable. In addition, plugging into home internet via an ethernet cable, when possible, is typically better and faster.
- Disconnect from all other devices and make sure you don't have too many other windows or programs running at the same time.
- To participate in General Session, each delegate must be signed in on a separate device (laptop, computer or tablet) using the secure link sent over email (the email used when you registered for convention). A new General Session link will be sent daily. There is one secure link per delegate per day and allows delegates to access and vote on the virtual convention floor during General Sessions.
- Become familiar with the convention process laid out in the Convention Rules & Order of Business. The proposed Rules can be found in Delegate Resources. Check back often for updates to Rules, which are typically approved on the first day of convention.
- Attendees should also read the Delegates Guide to become familiar with the convention process.
- Log on early. The General Session Room will be open 15 minutes before session. Participants are encouraged to log on early so the business of convention can start and end on time.
- General Session will be presented in webinar format, meaning delegates, other than speakers, will not appear on screen. However, workshops and the Benefits Expo will be presented in meeting format, or typical Zoom format. For those events held in meeting format, attendees should make sure to have their cameras on, be active participants, make sure their mic is working and is muted when not talking and that the background, attire and workspace is appropriate for the event.
