Welcome! Getting ready for Convention

The 34th OCSEA Biennial Convention will take place VIRTUALLY this week, Thursday, August 19 through Saturday, August 21, 2021. For the first time ever, the union convention will be held 100% online.
All delegates and alternates will participate online via tablet, laptop or computer. The theme is “Union Power for a Better Tomorrow” as we look ahead to the future of labor and the future of public service.
Things to remember:
- No official Check-In. Typically, delegates and alternates check in at convention. Because this is a virtual convention, there will be no official check-in process. Delegates and alternates who registered by the Aug. 6 deadline will receive a daily link to General Session via Zoom. By clicking that secure link, each individual delegate will be admitted to the virtual General Session each day. Every link is unique to that day and to that delegate and cannot be shared. Delegates must be signed in separately via this secure link due to main floor voting.
- Subordinate body delegates and alternates who did not register by the Aug. 6 deadline, will need to go to the Credentials Committee link to get their credentials. The Credentials Committee will meet on Wednesday, Aug. 18 from 5-9 p.m., Thursday, Aug. 19 and Friday, Aug. 20 from 8 a.m-5 p.m. The Credentials Committee will also meet on Saturday, Aug. 21 beginning at 8 a.m. Once a member becomes an official delegate or alternate, General Session links will be emailed to them in the manner described above.
- Check your email often. Links to Workshops, Convention Committees and other “events” (not General Session) will be sent to delegates and alternates daily at the email address used by delegates/alternates upon registration for convention.
- Get agenda, check Convention website. Links to Workshops, Convention Committees and other “events” (not General Session) can also be accessed via the electronic Convention Program Agenda under Delegate Resources.
- Access member account. A MyOCSEA account is required to access all convention links from Con.OCSEA.org. All delegates and alternates should make sure that they can log on to their MyOCSEA account and that the email address associated with that account is current. Go HERE to sign in to your MyOCSEA account.
- Know the daily schedule. General Session will begin promptly each day at 10 a.m. and again at 1 p.m. Check the agenda for all events, including workshops, special events and committee schedules.
- Attend New Delegate Workshop. There will be two opportunities for those who are new to convention to attend a New Delegate Workshop: Wednesday, Aug. 18, 6 p.m.-7:15 p.m. and Thursday morning, Aug. 19, 8:30 a.m-9:45 a.m. before General Session begins. This is also a good event for delegates who need a refresher or who want to learn more about the new virtual processes. Check the agenda for all events.
- Get started on Wednesday. There will be two events on the Wednesday evening before Convention. This includes the New Delegate workshop for those new to convention as well as a Financial Training for treasurers and officers. Both are at 6 p.m.-7:15 p.m. Check the agenda for all events.
- Attend workshops. Besides, the New Delegate Workshops and Financial Training, there will be three workshops held on Thursday afternoon and three more workshops held on Friday afternoon. All workshops will start at 3 p.m. All six workshops will discuss important union issues and are great resources for all attending the convention. Check the agenda for all events.
- Committee Meetings. Most Committees will meet Thursday and Friday afternoon beginning at 4:30 p.m.
- Ask for help. The Convention Customer Service Zoom room is here to answer questions and is open from Noon-8 p.m. on Wednesday and from 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Thursday through Saturday.
