District Council 1707, Local 205 won a historic victory in its fight for wage parity when it negotiated an agreement with the Day Care Council of New York and the City of New York, to extend the contract by two years. This agreement achieves parity for certified teachers with the same base pay as teachers in NYC public schools.  

  • TEACHER PAY PARITY: Certified Teachers with either a bachelor or master’s degree will receive between $17,000 and $20,000 in pay raises over the next three years!
  • SUPPORT STAFF INCREASE: $1,800 bonus and a minimum 3.6% wage increase.
  • PENSION SECURITY: Defined-benefit pension for unionized childcare employees.
  • Affordable health care: 10% reduction in premium and 33%-80% reduction in co-pay costs for unionized childcare employees. For example, Generic drug co-pay reduced to $5 from $25 (80%) and Brand names reduced to $20 from $50 (60% reduction).
  • CAREER LADDER: FREE TUITION for Early Education Bachelors and Masters’ Degrees at CUNY Colleges or subsidized tuition reimbursement at any college or University for union childcare members in Day Care Council. Also, free online associate degree for member’s spouse, children and grandchildren.
