Members of AFSCME Local 4041, which include state employees, City of West Wendover and Storey County employees, have released a slate of endorsed candidates ahead of the November 3 general election.
Elected officials can dramatically affect the lives of our members. That's why the AFSCME Local 4041 has established an endorsement process to give members the information they need to make informed choices on Election Day. Endorsements are made by the Law & Legislation Committee. The committee reviews all questionnaires submitted by candidates, evaluates candidate voting records if they are a current elected offical, conducts interviews, and reviews other pertinent information prior to making their decisions. Party affiliation doesn't matter; the L&L Committee sends questionnaires to all candidates and reviews each one that comes in.
“As our state enters a period of economic downturn, we trust these candidates to do what is best to protect the public services our communities rely on, and the workers who continue to provide these services. When our communities need us most, state, city and county employees continue to step up and provide essential services that keep Nevadans healthy and safe. We look forward to working with elected leaders and candidates to find solutions to ensure workers continue to have a voice on the job and our communities continue to receive the services they need,” said Harry Schiffman, electrician at UNLV and president of AFSCME Local 4041.
