My name is Larry Coffey. I’m an Orientation and Mobility Instructor for the state of Nevada and have been a member of AFSCME Local 4041 for 5 years. I support Senate Bill 135 because state employees deserve a voice on the job.
The work my co-workers and I do exists solely to address assessment, treatment, training and job placement for Nevadans with disabilities. Our ultimate goal is to help clients work and live independently. The state plays a vital role in this field as one of the only providers, public and private, of rehabilitation services in Nevada.
We are dedicated to our clients, and we know how to get the most out of our time with them. Unfortunately, our expertise is often overlooked on the job. It is not uncommon to come to work to find a new policy in place, without staff input. Often, these policy changes impact the quality of time we spend with clients.
Collective bargaining would allow us to have a voice on the job to advocate for our clients and improve state services.
Join me in letting our legislators know state employees support collective bargaining rights. Click here to send a letter today!
