Have you heard? Your coworkers are coming together to have a voice in our working conditions and demand the dignity and respect we deserve as Nevada state employees.
DMV service techs, DWSS family support specialists, NDOT engineering techs, NSHE library and lab techs, research associates, IT techs across all agencies, and other state workers in the Technical Bargaining Unit are coming together to vote AFSCME as our union and exclusive representative. Together as AFSCME, we will be joining thousands of Nevada state employees who have improved their working conditions with a voice on the job and a union contract.
We are proud of the work we do supporting our communities and making Nevada a great place to live. But often, our concerns and needs are dismissed by arbitrary decisions from agency managers. Low wages keep our agencies from retaining staff, placing a burden on those of us committed to serving our community. Understaffing has led to unfair overtime policies that vary across worksites in the same agencies, forcing employees to miss important moments with their families.
With a unified voice on the job, we can improve our working conditions by addressing issues like safety, wages, and overtime without sacrificing the important services Nevadans need.
Join us in voting for AFSCME as our union and exclusive representative this August. A ballot will be mailed to your home, and all you will have to do is mark the box for AFSCME and mail it back. Voting for AFSCME does not commit you to paying union dues.
We’ve seen how a union contract provides enhanced benefits to state workers. This election is our opportunity to take our seat at the bargaining table and get the same benefits in the next AFSCME collective bargaining agreement.
If you have questions about our union or the union election, reach out to our organizing committee at 702-202-3633 or talk to a vote captain at your workplace.
In solidarity,
AFSCME Tech Unit Organizing Committee
