Dear Friends and members,

Voting is underway for a seat on the Employees Retirement System Board. Of course, this is an extremely important position since ERS makes the decisions regarding our pensions, health care coverage, and other benefits. I cannot overstate how important your vote is!!

Maura Powers and I met with Cora Bennett who is running for the seat and we believe that she is the best candidate to represent the members of AFSCME, Texas State Retirees. 

Cora has been a front line worker for the State of Texas for over twenty years at the Department of Juvenile Justice in Mart (outside of Waco). Like many current and retired state employees, Cora also has a part-time job as an auditor for La Quinta Hotels. She knows the challenges employees and retirees face. She has a degree in finance and is an active member of the TSEU, committed to protecting our health care benefits and annuities and working for and with Texas retirees.
