Unlike most public workers in Charles County including teachers and school staff, sheriffs' deputies, and emergency first responders, the workers employed by the county do not have the protection and security of a union contract. But all that is about to change.
Workers in Charles County have realized that it's time to organize a union, guaranteeing all county workers their fair share of the prosperity enjoyed by the community of Charles County, Maryland. These organizers, men and women who keep Charles County running, have organized in Annapolis and in Charles County, wining the right to organize from the state legislature and winning a Labor Peace Agreement with Charles County which was supported by every county commissioner.
Read House Bill 443 and Senate Bill 440 which passed into law on May 6, 2020 and will go into effect October 1, 2020.
